Hi, my name is Shayna Adelstein. My approach is warm, flexible, welcoming and fluid. I value having an authentic working relationship with individuals by practicing respect, empathy, and honesty. I have had had the opportunity to practice cultural humility with people from diverse backgrounds, experiences, and age groups, and I value viewing the people I see as the experts in their own experiences and lives. I have had experience and knowledge working with adolescents, teenagers, young adults, and adults. Specifically I enjoy supporting individuals in life transitions such as starting college, starting a new job/career, moving, expanding or starting a family, etc. I have worked with many individuals who are survivors of childhood trauma and supported them through their healing process.

“Painful feelings are, by their very nature, temporary. They will weaken over time as long as we don’t prolong or amplify them through resistance or avoidance. The only way to eventually free ourselves from debilitating pain, therefore, is to be with it as it is. The only way out is through” -Kristin Neff

I originally moved to Bellingham from Arizona in 2013, although have spent the last several years getting familiar with the community and all that the Pacific Northwest has to offer! I provide a variety of treatment modalities including person-centered, mindfulness, strength-based, solution-focused therapy, family systems, cognitive behavioral techniques and more depending on your needs.

I received my Masters in Social Work from Eastern Washington University in 2020, and my Bachelor of Arts in Human Services from Western Washington University in 2017. I am an LSWAIC in Washington state and a member of the National Association of Social Workers. I would love to hear from you to see if I could be a good fit for you and your needs!”
