Hi, my name is Natalie Bettger. I view therapy as a sacred honor as clients take a
risk trusting me with the deepest and darkest parts of their stories. It is no easy task
seeking therapy. My approach is warm, reflective, curious, and trauma informed. I
deeply value the authentic working relationships with clients that allows for collaborative work rather than pretending I am the expert of their story. Lasting change can occur in this collaborative and curious type of therapeutic relationship, which I what I have to offer to every client that walks through my door.
With an emphasis on attachment, narrative, emotion focused, somatic, and
trauma informed theories and approaches, I desire to help clients face the hard times of life including grief, fear, and trauma that make life uncertain, and begin to reprocess it in a way that allows growth and facilitates healing. It is my belief that each client holds a unique story that is best navigated using compassion, safety, and curiosity. It is
essential to have a safe space in order to begin reprocessing trauma, and that allows us to better understand the connectedness between our bodies, spirits, and minds. I
believe that clients must learn regulation and maintained bodily relaxation before any
sort of trauma work can be completed. By better understanding how our past has
shaped us and how our present continues to shape us, we can better approach reality
in a way that provides insight for the future.
My areas of experience include relationships, trauma, anxiety, depression, crisis
management, sex, and EMDR therapy. I have spent time working with survivors of sex
trafficking and sexual trauma, females navigating abusive relationship dynamics,
college students navigating all the “what’s next’s” of life, and adults navigating early life traumas. EMDR is one of my most used approaches to desensitize distressing material and reprocess it with clients. Overall, I adopt a person-centered approach to make the therapeutic process more about the therapeutic relationship to create a nonjudgmental place of learning and re-learning. For those who are interested, I also provide Christian counseling and integrate faith based care into sessions.
I have my bachelors degree from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona,
and my masters degree from Northwest University in Kirkland, Washington. I was born
and raised in Skagit Valley and am blessed to be able to serve my community. In my
free time, I love to read, camp, hike, and spend time with family and friends.
“Be open to being cracked open. Wide open. It’s the difficult times that help us
grow in leaps and bounds, and in ways we could only dream were possible. But first,
they have to crack us open. When your soul cracks open, a space is created for the
grace of the Holy Spirit to enter. Let your trials, your sorrows, your pains, and your
losses transform you into more and more of yourself. Stay open to the possibility that
your tragedies, your losses, your sorrows, and your hurt happened for you, not to you.
Bless the thing that broke you down and cracked you open, because the world needs
you open.” ~ Rebecca Campbell
